Some people (like my big..cough cough) start crafting their Halloween costumes in March. But if you’re like me, you wait until the last second to throw together the cheapest and easiest costume possible. These are basically made out of all items you can find easily in your closet already! I hope this saves you when your running around your house crazed tonight or feeling depressed looking at cute pictures of costumes online. Personally, I’m going to be rocking Holly Golighty and the schoolgirl/secretary look this weekend. Comment below with what you’re being for Halloween!

I love how many options transitioning your wardrobe from summer to fall offers! It’s so much fun mixing and matching unexpected items together to create a polished look. For example, I paired this summery, floral dress with a baggy, cozy sweater. I exchanged sandals for boots and a statement necklace for a warm scarf. This outfit was perfect for 55 degrees and cloudy!
I also have some exciting blog news! My Instagram account is now linked up to LIKEtoKNOW.it. What this means is that if you sign up with LIKEtoKNOW.it and then “like” my picture on Instagram, all of the outfit details will be sent directly to your email inbox! This speeds up your shopping process because you can shop the looks right there on your phone. I love following my favorite fashion bloggers with that and seeing what specific pieces they’re wearing. It’s an incredibly easy way to shop!

How fun are these little black booties from Guilty Soles? I love how versatile they are. For today’s post, I styled them in two completely different ways – edgy and flirty. Whether you dress up black booties like I did in my flirty look or make them more casual like in my edgy look, they compliment any outfit.
For my flirty look, I paired the booties with a skater skirt from Nordstrom and a beautiful blouse from Texas Roots. I’m obsessed with this blouse – the bow in the back is such a stunning detail, I can’t get enough of it. I polished the whole outfit off with this gorgeous statement necklace from Flourish Boutique.
My edgy look combines standard dark-wash Hudson Jeans skinnies, an olive blouse from Nordstrom, and a classic leather jacket from Forever 21. I also added a dainty and beautiful initial necklace from Adorn512 to top it all off. If you love Adorn512 as much as I do, use the coupon code “blog30” for 30% off your purchase!
I also have an amazing giveaway for one lucky person to win a free yearly membership to Guilty Soles. Their memberships are typically $49.95 for a massive collection of designer shoes for only $19.95 each. Enter to win below!
Someday I will fly to New York and attend the most glamorous event of the year: New York Fashion Week. Until then, I’ll just scour the internet for every single picture from the runways and parties so that I can live vicariously through strangers I’ll never meet. In doing so this year, I’ve come across something that might be even more exciting as the runways: street fashion. While the models strut their stuff on stage, attendees rock their most fashion-forward pieces and flaunt them on the sidewalks of the city. I find this almost more interesting than the runways because trends and styles seem more tangible and real when you see normal people wearing them.
That being said, I’ve collected some of my favorite street style shots from New York Fashion Week! I think this forecasts where fashion is going for the next two seasons. What were some of your favorite looks? Comment below and tell me!

What’s in your bag? I can’t live without my travel sized Viva la Juicy perfume, Softlips Cube lip balm, Kate Spade wallet, Erin Condren planner, pens, Revlon lip stain, and Affinitas Cupcake Panties.
If I don’t write it down in my planner, it might as well not exist. I completely rely on my planner for staying organized and on-track throughout the week. It’s seriously a life-saver! I would recommend for any college girl or busy woman to get a planner – trust me, it will change your life.
So you might think I’m crazy for keeping panties in my bag, but let’s be honest: who hasn’t felt awkward stuffing a change of panties in your purse for after a workout or a sleepover with your boyfriend? It’s like carrying tampons around – you’re always afraid it might fall out of of your purse but there’s really no reason why it would be embarrassing since we all deal with that. But at the same time, somehow it is super embarrassing! Affinitas generously provided me with a sample of their brilliant solution to this issue – they have packaged their affordable, sexy, and comfortable panties in adorable, clever packaging. See the cupcakes spilling out of my purse? Yeah, those are panties in disguise.
If you’re busy like me, your everyday purse might resemble something Mary Poppins carried around – you have literally everything you could possibly need in any situation stuffed in there. This bag goes with you to class, work, the gym, your boyfriends house, out to coffee with girlfriends – everywhere! Instead of smushing your undies to the bottom of your bag and potentially getting them dirty with crumbs or something (because let’s face it – you definitely have snacks in your bag too), you can have them hidden and safe in this super cute and practical packaging.
I know this may sound silly to some people, but when I heard about Affinitas’ packaging idea, my mind was blown. Who thinks of that?
Anyways, I’ve shared what’s in my everyday bag – now what’s in yours?

What’s on your fall wishlist?
Hi! My name is Emma, a sophomore at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and author of The Daily Dil-emma, a daily lifestyles blog about livin’ the college life. Thanks so much, Madeleine, for letting me guest post today! Going back to school, it’s always fun to go shopping with the hopes of finding the perfect wardrobe that will result in a flawless year (yet inevitably turns into athletic shorts and tee shirts 2 weeks in). During my quest at J.Crew the other day to find a pair of pants (which I came out of the store with a bag full of everything but the pants) I stumbled upon this sweater. I don’t know what really drew me to it, but I absolutely love it. Not only is it a classic piece- gotta love stripes- but it’s super soft, and has a really cool zipper design.
The funny thing is, where I go to school the winter was so harsh last year that all I did was dream of warm weather and now that it’s fall I can’t wait to break out the sweaters and vests. Here are two ways to take a classic top from syllabus week to Thanksgiving break.
Summer
Top: J.Crew
Shorts: Alice + Olivia (got them on sale at a thrift shop!)
Shoes: J.Crew Rio Sandals
Early Fall
Top: J.Crew
Sweater: Banana Republic
Pants: Maison Joules
Shoes: Steve Madden Riding Boots
Thanks for reading and hope you have a great start to the school year!
I love discovering new stores and it’s so fun when they’re in my backyard. Peridot Boutique is a trendy store located in Queen Anne in Seattle. One of the only boutiques I’ve seen in Seattle that offers cute clothes like this and I absolutely fell in love. My friend (and Theta sister) Jill had an internship there this summer – I was so jealous! They have everything from strappy crop tops to cut-out back dresses to flowy harem pants to boho-chic accessories and much, much more.
And guess what?!
They have provided me with this gorgeous neon necklace for a killer GIVEAWAY!
Yep, that’s right – you can win this beautiful statement piece just by entering below. But hurry – the giveaway ends in exactly ONE WEEK!

The dress I’m wearing is also from Peridot – it’s the perfect dress for summer: light and flowy. I love the print on it – the palm trees are so fun! I threw on my favorite black floppy hat from Forever 21 and my go-with-everything Jessica Simpson pumps (similar here). You could definitely dress this down with some combat boots and cardigan. I even wore it to my internship once by wearing black flats and a black blazer over it. Who knew such a funky dress could be so versatile?
Don’t forget to enter the giveaway to win this gorgeous necklace from Peridot Boutique!
More about Peridot:
This store is too cute and truly has something for everyone – casual day wear to formal wear to business casual to going out clothes – you name it, they have it! Most of their jewelry, lotions, perfumes, and accessories are from local shops and artists. I really appreciate how they work to support the local community in this manner.
Check out the photos below of some outfits I put together of my favorite items in the store! I also snapped some pictures of the store itself because it was just so beautiful.
If you live in the Seattle area, I recommend checking out Peridot for sure. They have high-quality clothes for a decent price and have the latest trends in stock at all times.

Introducing my new model: Tucker the Shih Tzu! I love this little guy so, so much even though he’s a lazy old man. He was grubbing around outside and chasing down bunnies while I was snapping some pictures for this post so I had to drag him in. This is the only shot I got where he doesn’t look completely pissed off. He’s so silly but I adore him!
Anyways, I was generously sent this gorgeous top from Perle Market a few days ago and have to admit I’ve worn it almost every day since then. I can’t help it – it’s so versatile! I’ve worn it while I was running errands, when I went over to my boyfriends house for a movie night, and out to lunch on a date with him. It can be dressed up or down but keeps you comfy no matter what. I also love the bright colors in the chevron pattern – it brightens up the whole look.
Today, I was just running some errands so I wore my comfiest Hudson Jeans with my brand new white Converse sneakers. I added a beautiful statement necklace from Flourish Boutique (similar here) to polish off the whole look. I threw my hair in a messy top knot and I was all set!
I can’t wait to wear this top in the winter because I think it will provide a much needed pop of color but also keep me warm and look great with leggings and boots. Like I said, this top is so versatile – I want one in every color and pattern imaginable!
If you love this top as much as I do, check out Perle Market’s “Spring Day Sorbet” piko. It’s actually on sale right now for only $19.99 AND you can get 15% OFF the whole site using the code “madeleinespeeps”
Perle Market has super cute and affordable clothes, accessories, and more. They are on a mission to find the best deals out there so that you can keep more money in your pocket (which I really appreciate!).
